Fans of top-down Zelda games like A Link to the Past and the Oracle games will be delighted to hear of Hazelnut Bastille, a new action RPG being developed by Aloft Studios! Hazelnut Bastille is the story of a young woman who travels to the outskirts of her world to retrieve something that was lost to her. The game is inspired by classic 16-bit 2D titles such as Super Metroid and A Link to the Past. If you take a look at some alpha gameplay below (or on YouTube here), it’s not hard to see where the game gets its inspiration from! Since A Link to the Past is my personal favorite Zelda game, I am incredibly excited to see how Hazelnut Bastille turns out.

The folks over at Nintendo Life had an exclusive chat with Aloft Studios, which you can check out here. And be sure to keep an eye on Aloft Studio’s website to stay up to date on the game’s development. Hazelnut Bastille is set for release in mid to late 2019 for PC, Mac, Linux, and the Switch.
