The Triforce is one of the most iconic relics in the Legend of Zelda series. Its power to grant the wishes of those who wield it makes it the most sought-after item in Hyrule. Traditionally, throughout the Zelda series, the united Triforce has always been under the care of the royal family. When it has been split, fragments of it have been possessed by the Hero (Link), Princess Zelda, and Ganon. In Breath of the Wild, however, the Triforce is given a radically different presentation, with potentially far-reaching consequences for the Zelda series. The guys at Commonwealth Realm decided to take a look at how the Triforce is presented in Breath of the Wild, and how that impacts the series moving forward. Commonwealth Realm’s observations focus mostly on how the Triforce is now passed down through the female royal line, rather than being controlled by the King. Additionally, the Triforce is no longer presented as an object that one just had to touch to unleash its power; rather, the princess had to find a way to unleash the power of the Triforce that was within her, through meditation and prayer.
